Reporting and Writing
Whether it be reporting on hot topics within the school environment, or social awareness and justice-oriented issues from around the world, I have spent ample time researching and writing articles. Throughout my time with Charger Press, I have consistently worked to publish pieces that relate to societal problems and allow my audience to question what they believe. The purpose of my writing is not to make sure every single mind is changed, but rather to get people to understand why they truly believe what they believe, or whether they have fallen into the trap of blind faith.

I think that when it comes to the idea of making others aware of social justice-oriented issues, the main role of journalists is to inform others of the truth while being able to bring across their own conclusions in a manner that isn’t overbearing. That being said, my journalism has not been objective in nature; I have taken on controversial topics such as racism, redlining, and politics. Having bias within journalism is entirely natural, and I believe beneficial at times, but I know the balance in order to avoid sensationalism within my work. I base my reporting and writing on the facts of the matter and show how they have led me to my beliefs.
